As a Video Journalist you will produce engaging content for The Independent’s website and social media channels on a wide range of topics.

Reporting to the Head of Video you will react to breaking stories and traffic requirements, work on long form productions and pitch original ideas.

You will be expected source footage, writes scripts and shoot and edit original content.

You will join a team that works a shift schedule that includes evenings and weekends and occasionally overnight.

Job purpose

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior CRM Manager who will be responsible for owning and developing the end to end consumer contact strategy for our B2C business. Growth of the consumer business requires a dedicated focus, one that determines how best to engage with consumers across propositions to drive reader revenues. The successful candidate must understand consumer demand, needs and issues and formulate viable consumer relation solutions to increase acquisition, engagement and retention. Key responsibilities

  • Develop an ESI Media preference centre and implement consumer contact rules (frequency, suppressions, blacklisting etc.) to ensure reader revenue prospect communication is prioritised whilst not hindering commercial revenue opportunities.
  • Working in conjunction with the Data team develop a consumer engagement matrix and where appropriate, propensity to subscribe and churn models to inform our acquisition strategy. Similarly, devise a suitable LTV (lifetime value) model in order to estimate reader revenues and calculate cost-effective CPL and CPA targets for paid marketing and brand campaigns.
  • Working with the broader marketing team, ensure effective end-to-end delivery of CRM campaigns across owned, operated and paid for marketing channels. Translate contact plans into execution schedules by collaborating with Editorial, Product, Data and Development teams.
  • Build a programme of automated consumer communications (triggers) to improve team productivity and campaign effectiveness.

Job purpose

We have an exciting opportunity for a CRM Manager who will be responsible for owning the strategic and operational delivery of all consumer communications for ESI Media. Key responsibilities

  • Lead our data acquisition projects, prioritising the acquisition of registered customers (newsletter opt-ins etc.) to grow our first party data pools. Collaborate with the Product and Marketing times to implement campaigns and onsite experiences to drive data collection across our portfolio of websites (Indy, ES, IndyBest etc).
  • Working with the Data team, identify opportunities to improve MarTech capabilities, syncing existing and new systems to ensure improved data management and targeting opportunities. Manage the relationship with our ESP, Sailthru and build a roadmap of tests and developments which align to the overarching consumer contact strategy.
  • Activate our consumer lifecycle through the development and activation of trigger communications, ensuring communications are personalised and relevant to the recipient based on their user state, engagement level, value or any other trait/behaviour we deem relevant.   • Ensure business understanding on the role and importance of CRM by producing reports that present performance against business objectives and opportunities for growth and development. Job purpose

We are looking for a highly creative and versatile Mid-Weight Designer to support our internal Consumer Marketing team, as the lead designer for marketing, you will interpret and implement the creative vision for a broad range of marketing materials, assets and advertising campaigns, primarily for use on digital platforms. The successful candidate must be willing to develop ideas and executions from an initial brief and therefore have experience in presenting ideas and concepts, sourcing feedback and then working final versions/variants for approval. You will enjoy taking ownership of your work and ideas whilst championing the brand.

As referenced above, experience in digital and social media design is crucial, as you will be expected to design and create assets for online and digital display ads, email campaigns, social campaign and more, all of which will require static and moving image. Non-digital formats and concepts will be required on an ad-hoc basis.

The successful candidate must have strong attention to detail, and ability to identify creative consistency across colour, typography, composition and layout, and other essential design principles. Key responsibilities

  • Oversee all design projects, from conception to delivery for the Consumer Marketing function. Exploration and conceptualising for both marketing and editorial campaigns that are relevant for our target audience which will involve development and execution of creative assets that can be used for both customer acquisition and retention journeys.
  • Generate ideas to portray concepts and advertise our consumer products and services (Subscriptions, E-Commerce, Events and Sponsorship) based on briefs received from the marketing team.

Job purpose

The Independent is looking for a business correspondent with experience of delivering breaking news stories, in-depth analysis and original features. You will become a key member of the team, reporting on general business and economics news from the UK and US.

Key responsibilities

  • Cover breaking business stories
  • Produce explainers, analyses and features
  • Proactively search for stories to give our coverage a distinctive edge
  • Maintain and develop contacts with companies, analysts, think tanks and other relevant organisations

Skills and experience

  • At least two years’ experience in a business or economics reporting role in a fast-paced newsroom
  • A strong news sense and an understanding of companies and business trends, as well as the broader economy
  • Proven ability to produce clean copy under tight deadline pressure
  • A proven understanding of digital journalism and a desire to deepen your knowledge
  • A team player who can work collaboratively with colleagues across departments
