Simon Calder celebrates 25 years at The Independent.

  • Travel Correspondent, Simon Calder, the man who pays his own way tells us all he has learnt in his 25 years (and it's a lot).

Our very own Simon Calder walked into The Independent offices 25 years ago for his first day as Travel corespondent. In his time visiting over 120 countries, he's grown his knowledge of trains, planes and countries, seen and met hundreds of interesting characters from all cultures and experienced the best and worst hotels and cuisines. There is no better person to ask if you've got any questions relating to travel. The Independent wanted to take this opportunity to pick Simon's brain of everything he has learnt in his years, sharing his pearls of wisdom, starting with 'Simon Calder at 25: The man who pays his way in his own words'

Have a read of some of his memories since 1994 from these articles by The Independent.
